SONYA aims to improve care services for older people in rural areas by empowering social economy organizations (SEOs). It focuses on creating ecosystems that attract and retain workers in the older people care sector while fostering community engagement and socioeconomic inclusion.
Care for older people should be tailored to the needs, values, and preferences of individuals. It goes beyond medical care to include care work focusing on older adults’ social needs. SONYA promotes holistic care that supports older people in maintaining control over their lives, engaging in meaningful activities, and being active community members.
